# GET /v2/tickers/{ticker}/segments

**Revenue by segment**

A company's revenue split by business segment, by geography and by product or service line, for each fiscal year or quarter, as reported in its SEC filings.

## Query / path parameters

| Name | In | Type | Required | Description |
|------|----|----|----------|-------------|
| `ticker` | path | string | yes | Case-insensitive. Equities are bare symbols (`AAPL`); every other class carries a prefix — rates (`R:SOFR`), crypto (`X:BTCUSD`), fx (`X:EURUSD`). Bare `BTC`/`ETH` are US-listed ETFs, not spot crypto. See [Tickers](/docs/tickers). Example: `AAPL`. |
| `axis` | query | string[] | no | Which breakdowns to return, comma-separated. Default: all three. Enum: `segment`, `geography`, `product`. Example: `segment,geography`. |
| `period` | query | string | no | `annual` (10-K, 20-F, 40-F) or `quarterly` (10-Q). Enum: `annual`, `quarterly`. Default: `annual`. Example: `quarterly`. |
| `from` | query | string | no | Earliest fiscal period end to include, `YYYY-MM-DD`. Example: `2022-08-30`. |
| `to` | query | string | no | Latest fiscal period end to include, `YYYY-MM-DD`. Example: `2026-09-08`. |
| `asof` | query | string | no | Point in time, `YYYY-MM-DD` (that day's close) or an ISO timestamp. Returns only periods whose filing was public by then, for the company that held the symbol then. Example: `2026-07-10`. |
| `limit` | query | integer | no | Most recent periods to return, 1 to 100. Default: `20`. Example: `5`. |

## Returns

- `as_of` (string) — Server time this response was assembled (ISO 8601).
- `ticker` (string) — The symbol you asked for.
- `cik` (string) — The company's SEC registrant number. Null when the symbol has none.
- `name` (string) — Company name.
- `period` (string) — `annual` or `quarterly`, as requested.
- `axis` (array) — The breakdowns returned.
- `asof` (string) — Echo of `asof`, when given.
- `count` (number) — Periods in `periods`.
- `note` (string) — Why `periods` is empty, when it is.
- `periods` (array) — Newest first. Each has `period_end`, `period_start`, `fiscal_year`, `fiscal_period` (`FY`, `Q1`–`Q3`), `form`, `accession`, `filed`, `available_at`, `currency`, `usd_rate`, `total_revenue`, `total_revenue_usd`, and one key per requested breakdown (`segment`, `geography`, `product`). A breakdown is `null` when the filing does not report it, `{ published: false, reason }` when its lines do not add up, or `{ published: true, members }` where each member has `name`, `revenue`, `revenue_usd`, `share` (of total revenue), and when they apply `parent` (the line it sits under in the filing) and `reconciling`.

## Status codes

- **200** — Success — the response shape is documented under Returns above.
- **400** — `bad_request` — malformed ticker, or an axis, period, date or limit outside the documented values.
- **404** — `not_found` — the ticker is not in the universe.

## Notes

- Source: each 10-K, 20-F, 40-F (annual) and 10-Q (quarterly) filing's own XBRL. The line names are the company's own labels. Data starts with filings from 2011.
- A breakdown is shown only when its lines add up to the company's total revenue within 0.5%. When they do not, the period still appears with `published: false` and the reason, and no numbers.
- Some segment breakdowns include corporate or elimination lines (marked `reconciling: true`) so that they add up to total revenue. These can be negative.
- Quarterly means 10-Q filings: the first three fiscal quarters. The fourth quarter is part of the annual report and is not derived.
- Amounts are in the company's reporting currency (`currency`). `revenue_usd` converts them at the average Federal Reserve H.10 exchange rate over the period (`usd_rate`); it is null for a currency H.10 does not publish.
- Segments belong to the company, not the symbol. With `asof`, the company is the one that held the symbol on that date, and a period appears only once its filing was public (09:30 ET on the first trading day after it was filed).
