Revenue by segment

GEThttps://api.tickerbot.io/v2/tickers/{ticker}/segments

A company's revenue split by business segment, by geography and by product or service line, for each fiscal year or quarter, as reported in its SEC filings.

stringrequired

Case-insensitive. Equities are bare symbols (AAPL); every other class carries a prefix — rates (R:SOFR), crypto (X:BTCUSD), fx (X:EURUSD). Bare BTC/ETH are US-listed ETFs, not spot crypto. See Tickers.

enum[]

Which breakdowns to return, comma-separated. Default: all three.

enumdefault annual

annual (10-K, 20-F, 40-F) or quarterly (10-Q).

string

Earliest fiscal period end to include, YYYY-MM-DD.

string

Latest fiscal period end to include, YYYY-MM-DD.

string

Point in time, YYYY-MM-DD (that day's close) or an ISO timestamp. Returns only periods whose filing was public by then, for the company that held the symbol then.

integerdefault 20

Most recent periods to return, 1 to 100.

as_ofstring

Server time this response was assembled (ISO 8601).

tickerstring

The symbol you asked for.

cikstring

The company's SEC registrant number. Null when the symbol has none.

namestring

Company name.

periodstring

annual or quarterly, as requested.

axisarray

The breakdowns returned.

asofstring

Echo of asof, when given.

countnumber

Periods in periods.

notestring

Why periods is empty, when it is.

periodsarray

Newest first. Each has period_end, period_start, fiscal_year, fiscal_period (FY, Q1–Q3), form, accession, filed, available_at, currency, usd_rate, total_revenue, total_revenue_usd, and one key per requested breakdown (segment, geography, product). A breakdown is null when the filing does not report it, { published: false, reason } when its lines do not add up, or { published: true, members } where each member has name, revenue, revenue_usd, share (of total revenue), and when they apply parent (the line it sits under in the filing) and reconciling.

200
Success — the response shape is documented under Returns above.
400
bad_request — malformed ticker, or an axis, period, date or limit outside the documented values.
404
not_found — the ticker is not in the universe.
  • Source: each 10-K, 20-F, 40-F (annual) and 10-Q (quarterly) filing's own XBRL. The line names are the company's own labels. Data starts with filings from 2011.
  • A breakdown is shown only when its lines add up to the company's total revenue within 0.5%. When they do not, the period still appears with published: false and the reason, and no numbers.
  • Some segment breakdowns include corporate or elimination lines (marked reconciling: true) so that they add up to total revenue. These can be negative.
  • Quarterly means 10-Q filings: the first three fiscal quarters. The fourth quarter is part of the annual report and is not derived.
  • Amounts are in the company's reporting currency (currency). revenue_usd converts them at the average Federal Reserve H.10 exchange rate over the period (usd_rate); it is null for a currency H.10 does not publish.
  • Segments belong to the company, not the symbol. With asof, the company is the one that held the symbol on that date, and a period appears only once its filing was public (09:30 ET on the first trading day after it was filed).
