How does the Free plan work?

Accepted Answer

Sign up with no card and you’re on the Free plan for good. Mint an API key from the dashboard and make calls immediately: real-time data, all-time history, all signals, 60 requests/minute, 10,000 calls per month. Upgrade to a paid plan when you want unlimited calls and higher rate limits; webhooks and streaming come with them. Cancel any time and you drop back to Free with your keys intact.

What happens at the rate limit?

Requests over the per-minute cap return 429 rate_limit_exceeded with a Retry-After header. On Free, calls past the monthly quota return 402 monthly_quota_exceeded until the quota resets on the 1st. Paid plans have no monthly cap. Overage is never silently billed.

Yes: 20% off on every paid plan. Rate limits are a rolling per-minute window.

What if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

You drop to the Free plan at the end of the paid period. Your keys keep working, at 10,000 calls/mo and 60 req/min. Universes and custom signals are preserved; webhooks are disabled until you resubscribe.

Can I use it commercially?

Accepted Answer

Yes: every plan, including Free, covers personal use, internal business use, and user-facing products that show Tickerbot data or signals to your own users (an app, newsletter, or screener). Plans differ on throughput, not license. What requires an Enterprise agreement is redistributing the data itself: passthrough APIs, bulk export, resale, or repackaging Tickerbot data as a feed. What’s in the universe?

~20,964 US equities (NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX), recomputed every minute, the full universe on every plan. Alongside them sits a curated set of non-equity series: the US Treasury curve and Fed policy rates, major FX pairs and spot metals, and the major crypto pairs. Those carry price and OHLCV history; the equity-specific signals (fundamentals, analyst ratings, company events) don’t apply to them.

How fresh is the data?

Live signals refresh every minute during US market hours, 24/7 for crypto. Fundamentals refresh daily; financial statements when issuers file. Cadence isn’t a tier lever; every plan gets the same refresh.

What is asof?

Accepted Answer

Any read endpoint accepts ?asof= to answer as of a past moment: rerun a scan against the market as it was, with no look-ahead and no survivorship bias. It’s unlimited-depth on every plan, including Free. History endpoints are separate and also stay all-time on every plan. Asof rewinds a whole query; history fetches a ticker’s past values.

Do you have an SDK?

REST API only today; SDKs for Python, Node, and Go are on the roadmap. For agents, install our MCP server and Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and any MCP runtime use Tickerbot natively, no SDK needed.

How does this compare to Polygon or Databento?
